Oia vey!

Last stop on last excursion on last cruise day: the village of Oia. Santorini’s sunset money shot. Spectacular.

But hell is other people, and all nine levels were represented there. Buffeted by the horde, we shuffled in one direction as directed, then back the other way, where it opened up enough to look around a bit.

We had a glass of the local wine (Santorini vineyards are famous for the volcanic soil that somehow captures the dew to allow the grapes to grow in a seriously hot, dry climate). It was a perfectly good dry white, but the fancy dessert wine that the guide had raved about wasn’t available.

The ship’s timetable meant that we weren’t actually in the village at sunset, but we got this nice shot from the bus window on the way back down.

And then one final sleep, and unloading in the morning. Thank you, Celestyal Discovery, for your hospitality. We hope you have many successful voyages in the future, although we definitely won’t be there to share them with you.
