This time, we did one of the ship-arranged guided tours. There were about a bus load of us.

After some driving around Santorini with its beautiful and surreal barrel-roofed villages, we made our first stop at the village of Megalochori. There’s our guide explaining stuff.

We paused for a moment while this lovely couple finished some wedding pictures. I would not be surprised if the Greek tourist authorities in fact hired these people to just hang out there all day to put the visitors in a happy and romantic mood. Takes your mind right off the heat, the crowds, the expense.

A few people actually live there, and more stay there for a while on holiday. A week based in Megalochori would be magnificent.
