I dig it!

I saw a little pocket of exposed rocks at low tide on a nearby beach and the magic metal detector found a few good coins wedged in crevices. That’s one of two florins I found there (can’t tell scale in that pic, it’s approximately the size of a US half dollar). A florin was worth 2 shillings, or 12 pence, back in the day. It’s in pretty good shape for a beach coin, but doesn’t have any particular collectible value even so. It’s 50% silver, and likely the value of the metal exceeds that of the coin, which is a pity.

I got a little too aggressive with my trusty red shovel and broke off its tip. How will the new green one perform?

Very well, thank you. It found a silver sixpence on its very first outing.
