We spent two weekends in Athens, each in a different Airbnb, and we did quite a bit of walking around. Here’s a bunch of street scenes from the first weekend.
The graffiti was ubiquitous, and most of it relatively unlovely.

Our first Airbnb. It was perfectly nice, up on the 4th floor.

Luckily it had a (tiny) elevator.

And a very pretty staircase. It also had the most impressive door lock… the key was bigger and heftier than I’ve ever seen. It turned about 4 twists to seat 5 deadbolts (and we are already behind a locked door on the street and another on the landing). Our second apartment had a similar lock… must be the done thing there.

These EE Y (EE Y O) meters were everywhere.

Greek manhole cover, just because.

Random ruins in the middle of town. You really can’t dig a hole there without finding something.

The big central market… closed on Sunday like just about everything else.

First glimpse of the Acropolis, and a bit of my finger.

Coming soon… new 5-star hotel. Well, soon-ish anyways.

Lee just finishing up a Greek salad. We ate a Greek salad at every non-breakfast meal all weekend. The first one was the best.
