We’d been getting close to rolling over 200,000 km on the minivan for a while. On this trip, I remembered to look at the odometer, and sure enough, it was going to happen.

I told Lee.

She readied her camera.

Then, a squirrel crossed the road. Well, since we don’t have squirrels here, it must’ve been something else. Maybe a solar flare. Or a bit of all-consuming radio news.

Anyway, we missed the big moment. But, instead we now commemorate the even bigger milestone of 200,008 km. Woo-hoo! 🥳

We bought the van in August 2018, with about 136,000 on it. So, in just over seven years we’ve averaged 9,000 km per year. Recently, we have put some miles on our second car, and of course we didn’t drive much during COVID.

But still, by some standards, and some of our past experiences, that’s not a lot of driving. It’s been very nice to not have a commute etc. Almost all that driving has been for fun.
