Drinks and rainbows

Sometimes I have some pictures that ought to be added to the blog but I just can’t quite make up a clever way to pull them together or connect them to some larger truth.

So… here’s some pictures on two unconnected themes!

The rainbow in the one above is tricky to see… it’s very close the ground. And that’s why we took the picture as we were driving along. But even without a big dramatic rainbow, the sky through the window has a sort of painterly blur that I like.

We stayed almost entirely on the water wagon for about a year, which was good. But lately we’ve found several reasons to celebrate with cocktails of one sort or another. That’s also good, just in different ways.

I think this pitcher of sangria commemorated “Saturday”.

Metal detecting one recent afternoon.

This flashy French aperitif was an upsell. I was investigating the Maison Vauron dining room for an event and noticed they sell some of the liqueurs and spirits they import. My desired bottle of Lillet Blanc turned into a small but happy family with the addition of this Delord Blanc (having Armagnac as its base spirit) and a pommeau de Normandie (calvados and cider).

On a macro level, of course, we can see the iceberg(s) (or more accurately, I suppose, the lack of icebergs, but please let me run with the Titanic reference). We have felt little judders as some of its berglets touched the hull. But on a more immediate scale… chin-chin, and may the pot of gold finally appear under my shovel!
