Haedoji (Sunrise) Park is just across the street from the Songdo Convensia and the Sheraton where I was staying. It’s beautiful!
I walked a little under 5km in the middle of the morning and was utterly drenched in sweat by the time I got back. Haven’t been that hot in literally years. The drone of the cicadas added a lot to the perception of summer. Change is good, but I don’t mind Auckland’s perpetual springtime either.
I took several pictures like the one above… apartment towers as seen from the park are quite striking. And I’m sure the residents enjoy the view of the park.

I didn’t try the Barefoot Healing Walk… but it’s a cool idea. At the beginning of the trail there’s a nice bench to take your shoes off, with shoe storage cubbies and a handheld sprayer to rinse off your tootsies.

The park, and actually the whole city, was festooned with promos for the APEC meetings I was part of.

Whale and dolphin fountain… almost as good as the real thing.

This big church just on the edge of the park was quite a striking building. I didn’t see the dove until I looked at the picture later.
