Again this year I completed the Round North Head swim. And again, it was more about finishing than racking up an impressive time.
This is the one where you swim with the tide giving a big assist, which is a lot of fun. It goes past some moored sailboats, which you get by in a stroke or two… whoosh! The water off the Head is often quite choppy, but this time it was pretty calm, so the whole thing felt easier than usual.
Round North Head is also the one local swim where you can do it in the Freedom Division (removing and replacing your swim togs in the water), which I did along with maybe 10% of the total field. And again, the water was kinda cloudy, so all anyone could see was a body-colored blob as opposed to a wetsuit-colored blob.
This race was the traditional start of the summer swim season for many years, but things got honked up during COVID, so this year it came near the end… with a storm coming in this week it might have been the last weekend of summer.
It was a lovely way to start the day, looking forward to next year.
